EBEW CENTER OUTREACH
Outreach is primarily through the Architectural, Engineering, and Construction Professional Development Program for undergraduate AEC women and the STEAM ACTIVATED! Program for middle-school girls.
Architecture, Engineering, and Construction - Professional Development Program (AEC-PDP)

Architecture, Engineering, and Construction Professional Development Program (AEC-PDP) is designed to engage undergraduate Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) women in experiences that strengthen their professional identity development and transition into the AEC workforce.

High and middle school girls, as well as graduate students interested in AEC professions are also welcome.

Participants are assigned mentors who are likely to be female AEC professionals.

Participants receive resources and support to ease their transitions into AEC professions.

Participants who excel in the program will receive an AEC-PDP certificate and $100.

STEAM ACTIVATED! PROGRAM FOR MIDDLE-SCHOOL GIRLS
APPLICATION LINK FOR 2023 STEAM ACTIVATED SUMMER CAMP OUTREACH TO MIDDLE-SCHOOL GIRLS
(JUNE 26 – 30, 2023)
African American Middle-school girls are invited to participate in the 2023 science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) ACTIVATED summer camp directed by Dr. Andrea Ofori-Boadu, an Assistant Professor with the Department of Built Environment within the College of Science and Technology at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.
STEM LEARNING ACTIVITIES: This one-week in-person STEAM ACTIVATED summer camp will engage selected African American middle-school girls in challenging and fun in-person STEM learning activities to strengthen STEM learning experiences, knowledge, self-efficacy, outcome expectations, and interests. All activities will be held on the North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University campus and girl campers will need to come to campus for all five days of the camp.
SCHOLARSHIPS: Scholarships for this STEAM ACTIVATED! camp are funded through a National Science Foundation (NSF CAREER) grant and a National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) grant awarded to North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. All girl campers who participate fully in this camp will receive an incentive of $100. To be considered for participation, carefully read, fill out, and sign the Application Form at the link below by May 31st, 2023.
ENROLLMENT PROCESS: Applicant interview invitations will be emailed to the parents/guardians of initially selected applicants on or before June 2nd. One hour applicant ZOOM interviews will occur between date of selection till June 6th. By June 10th, email notifications will be sent out to parents/guardians to confirm final enrollment of 2023 African American Girls of STEAM Promise.

INVOLVEMENT AND LOGISTICS: Parents and Guardians of enrolled Girls of STEAM Promise will be responsible for transporting girl campers to and fro the North Carolina A&T campus. Lunch will be provided on all five days of the camp.
